Geneva Public Library District seeks a proactive, collaborative individual to join our team as a part-time Customer Service Assistant. We pride ourselves on connecting with our community to discover, inspire and grow; and to deliver service at the level of “WOW!” Under the general supervision of the Customer Service Manager, we are looking to hire an enthusiastic, engaged, and energetic person. The successful candidate will be someone possessing a passion for customer service and who enjoys working with our community.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Providing concierge services to customers
  • Checking in and checking out materials and promoting library resources
  • Answering and routing incoming telephone calls
  • Registering and updating customers’ library accounts
  • Processing patron fines and performing departmental opening and closing procedures
  • Assisting with material maintenance needs
  • Promoting the library by the practice of good public relations

Hours: Vary according to Library’s need. Average number of hours between 10-20 hours per week. Must be available to work May 14th through August 5th. The Library is open 7 days a week and shifts may be assigned in the morning, afternoon or evening.

Qualifications for Position:

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • 1 year of experience working with the public
  • Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with others
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate keyboard proficiency of 30 WPM or greater
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 pounds
  • Must be able to push a cart loaded with library materials
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Flexibility in scheduling highly desirable.
