MATERIAL HANDLER (Part-time)


Geneva Public Library District seeks a proactive, collaborative individual to join our team as a part-time Material Handler. We pride ourselves on connecting with our community to discover, inspire and grow; and to deliver service at the level of “WOW!”! Under the general supervision of the Collections Coordinator, we are looking for an enthusiastic, engaged, and energetic person to join our team.  The successful candidate will be someone possessing a passion for customer service and who has both great attention to detail and a drive to organize. 

Primary Duties Include:
  •  Checking in material, shelving material, and retrieving material

  •  Unloading and packing delivery bins

  •  Preparing hold requests for pick-up

  •  Assisting throughout the Library on various materials projects

Hours: Wednesdays 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Fridays 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. plus two Saturdays of every four: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and two Sundays of every four: 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Qualifications for Position:
  •  Must be at least 16 years of age 

  •  Must have some high school education

  •  Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills

  •  Must be able to arrange alphabetically and numerically

  •  Must be able to read small print accurately

  •  Must be able to lift and carry at least 10 pounds

  •  Must be able to push a cart loaded with library materials

  •  Must be customer-service oriented

  •  Flexibility in scheduling highly desirable.

Starting rate is $9.30 per hour.   Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
