The Geneva Public Library offers free notary services for basic acknowledgement and affirmation signatures to Geneva District residents only.

Walk-in notarizations are generally available Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. but it’s recommended to call ahead at (630) 232-0780 x287.

To request a scheduled appointment for afternoons or weekends call (630) 232-0780 x251.

  • The person receiving notary service must provide a valid photo ID and any required witnesses with them.
  • Photo IDs must be issued by the state or federal government and have a valid signature.
  • DO NOT sign the form ahead of time. Notaries typically must witness the document being signed.
  • All people signing must be present.

Items we are unable to notarize:

  • Cook County real estate transactions (AKA document of conveyance).
  • Vital records – Birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificates and citizenship or naturalization certificates. You must request a certified copy from the county clerk, local registrar, or Illinois Dept. of Public Health/Vital Records.
  • School records – Only the school registrar has the authority to provide certified copies of student records. They must have a school seal and a tamper proof envelope, so these should be requested directly from the school.

Non-Geneva District residents can contact the American Association of Notaries to find a notary nearest to them.
