What Do Library Volunteers Do?
Opportunities for Adults
What: Adult volunteers will be paired with a Librarian in the Information and Reader Services Department to assist with preparing books to be discarded/recycled and other forms of collection maintenance. Volunteers will receive training to use the Library’s online catalog. The ability to push a loaded cart is required for some positions.
When: This position requires availability during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
What: Assist at special events either during the program or behind the scenes.
When: Volunteers in this position will be notified of events on an as-needed basis.
What: Do you have a special skill? Examples: Are you an expert in genealogy or writing? Do you speak another language or do translation services? Are you a sign language interpreter? Please share your talent with us!
When: Volunteers in this position will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Home Service Volunteers
What: The Library provides Home Service for residents of the Geneva Public Library District who are unable to come to the Library for 30 days or more and have no one to pick up Library materials for them. Home Service volunteers may be subject to a background check.
When: Home Service volunteers may make deliveries on a short or long term basis. Volunteers will be matched with recipients that match their schedule and time availability.
Friends of Geneva Public Library
What: The Friends of Geneva Public Library are a non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the Library with support, services and programs that will enrich the lives of residents of all ages.
When: Find monthly meetings and book sorts dates.
